Portugal: A flourishing haven

Portugal stands out as a beacon of safety and economic growth, consistently ranking among the world’s top countries. According to the Global Peace Index, it is the 3rd safest country in the world, just behind Iceland and Norway. The Expat Insider Report (2021) ranked Portugal the 5th best place to live for expats globally, and the top destination in Europe.

An impressive 84% of expats say they are satisfied with their life in Portugal, drawn by its breathtaking landscapes—from pristine coastlines to rolling mountains—its warm and welcoming people, delicious cuisine, and of course, the iconic Delta coffee.

  • So much so that California Mag dubbed Portugal “the new California dream.”

Portugal is also a global leader in sustainability, aiming to produce 100% of its energy from renewable sources by 2040. Already, 65% of its electricity comes from renewables, making it the European country with the largest CO₂ emission reduction since 2005.

On the economic front, Portugal continues to show resilience and solid growth. In 2024, the GDP increased by 1.9%, surpassing government forecasts.
Global credit rating agencies have also given Portugal positive outlooks, strengthening its position as a stable, promising destination for investment and lifestyle.

Who are the founders of Monchique Hills

Marc Ansari and Justine Lamboley are the co-founders of Monchique Hills — a project born from their deep commitment to health, regeneration, and a lifestyle in harmony with nature.

Marc Ansari holds an MBA (Master of Business Administration) and brings a wealth of experience in human development and wellness tourism. He directed a fasting and regeneration clinic in a thalassotherapy center in the south of France, where he guided thousands of people through transformative retreats focused on healing and renewal. Based in Portugal for several years now, Marc leads an eco-construction and real estate development company, specializing in sustainable and regenerative projects.

Justine Lamboley, on her side, worked for over 10 years as a journalist for major international networks such as BBC, CNN, and France 24, before answering the call of her life’s mission: to heal, guide, and empower. She later became a certified naturopath (Heilpraktikerin) and fasting specialist, and is the author of 7 best-selling books on integrative health, naturopathy, and fasting. Today, she trains hundreds of women worldwide to become free, aligned, and connected naturopaths, combining natural health, spirituality, and conscious entrepreneurship.

Together with their 8-year-old daughter, Justine and Marc are also deeply committed to education and future generations. They draw inspiration from alternative pedagogies and work to create an environment where children and adults alike can thrive in connection with nature and meaning.

Monchique Hills was born from their shared dream: to build a sanctuary where people can reconnect to nature, live consciously, cultivate abundance—in the soil, in relationships, and within—and co-create a rooted, free, and regenerative future.
